David Bradley Olsen Quoted in Star Tribune

March 21, 2013

Henson Efron Litigation attorney, David Bradley Olsen was quoted in a February 26 Star Tribune article regarding the Minnesota Court of Appeals decision that people who care for sick or elderly family members in their home are entitled to unemployment benefits. Olsen notes that this case is similar to a recent case he litigated on behalf of home-care agencies and relative caregivers regarding equal pay.

He states in the article “in both cases you had a group of similarly situated people who are subject to the same statutory and regulatory scheme, all providing the same services, and yet they’re treated differently.” Olsen said it’s rare for a court to strike down a statute as being unconstitutional. “It would appear to me that there are probably a lot of people out there that would benefit from this opinion,” he said. “Twice they’ve been discriminated against, and twice they won.”
