Attorney Lisa Spencer Takes Over as the Firm’s New President

January 30, 2020

At a Time When Henson Efron is Flourishing in Today’s Changing Legal Market

We’re pleased to announce Lisa Spencer, a long-time Henson Efron attorney and essential voice on the leadership team, is assuming the role of President this month. Clark Opdahl, the leader of our business law practice area, has been successfully managing the firm for the last 12 years.

“I’m excited to take the reins from Clark. But, don’t expect much in the way of change,” Lisa states. “The Henson Efron leadership team has a shared vision focused on client relationships and that will continue.”

“Our goal is and always has been to provide the best legal counsel to clients based on their unique situation. Period,” says Clark. “We’re unique in that each of our attorneys has a broad range of experiences to draw from, making them better able to see the ‘big picture.’ Our services are not siloed, which often happens in the larger firms, or limited, like our smaller counterparts. This makes us nimble and able to identify and address issues in a timely and efficient manner. We are at a sweet spot in size and capabilities.”

“That’s right,” Lisa adds, “our diverse practice groups are complementary to one another. To have high caliber corporate attorneys available to consult in a divorce case involving a business, the collective years of experience in litigation to advise the business law team when needed, and an estate planning group to protect the assets the family law group just advocated for, is the very definition of full service. We take pride in being highly collaborative, forward-thinking, and results driven, and there’s no reason to change.”

The firm and its attorneys have received numerous accolades over the years including 2020 U.S. News & World Report Best Law Firm and 2019 Star Tribune Top 150 Workplace. Lisa is the 2020 Best Lawyer Minneapolis Family Law Attorney of the Year and Clark was recently named a 2019 Attorney of the Year by Minnesota Lawyer.

Lisa concludes, “Growth for the sake of growth is not a part of our plan. When we need to add bench strength we address it, but just being big isn’t our strategy. We’re focused on stability and on delivering high quality legal work, remaining flexible and training our attorneys to be savvy, well-rounded counselors to provide the best value and meet the needs of our clients.”
